Free Drop Off at Trash Palace


Many items that would otherwise be dumped at Spicer Landfill in Porirua can instead be dropped off at Trash Palace and reused, recycled or resold as second hand goods.

Trash Palace is open to all members of the public to drop off:

  • All Kinds of Household Goods
  • Building Materials (doors, windows, fixtures, fittings)
  • Bathroom vanities, shower doors, baths, toilets
  • Furniture, clean bedding (except mattresses)
  • Empty Whiteware (fridges ($15 degassing fee), freezers, stoves)
  • Bric-a-Brac (cups, pots, ornaments)
  • Bikes and Sports Equipment
  • Electrical Goods and Appliances (working or not)
  • Re-usable Timber (not firewood)
  • Scrap Metal
  • Reusable Paint
  • Cardboard, Paper, Selected Glass, Aluminium, Plastics, Clothing, Fibres

All items are accepted at the discretion of the Trash Palace staff. Items that Trash Palace cannot accept include:

  • Car Bodies, Engines and Tyres
  • Broken Concrete and Demolition Refuse
  • Broken Glass
  • Hazardous Waste such as Oil, Gas Bottles, Chemicals, Lead, Infectious Materials, Explosives (visit Porirua City Council website for information on hazardous waste disposal)
  • Household or Garden Waste (tree trunks, grass clippings, food scraps etc.)

Trash Palace is open Monday – Friday 8:30 am-5.00 pm

Weekends & Public Holidays 9am-5pm.

Closed on Christmas Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday and Anzac Day (until 1 pm).

Easter hours: Easter Friday  (10 April) and Easter Monday (13 April)  - drop off only.  The Trash Palace Shop will be closed on these days.
