Free Home Collection Service
Trash Palace offers a free home collection service to Porirua City residents. However, anyone can drop off items just see the staff at Drop Off.
Two collections per household, per year are available and need to be booked in advance. Items will be collected within 2-3 weeks of booking.
Trash Palace will collect:
- Furniture eg beds, drawers etc (in any condition)
- Bathroom vanities, baths, toilets
- Clothing and shoes
- Empty whiteware (in any condition)
- Scrap metal that can be lifted by 2 people
- Carpet and underlay in reasonable condition
- Electrical goods in any condition
- Good reusable timber
- Bric-a-brac
- Paint, sealed properly to avoid spillage
- Books and toys
- Trampolines/swingsets that have been dismantled
- Car batteries
Trash Palace will not collect:
- Car parts (excluding car batteries), tyres or car bodies
- Broken glass
- Green waste e.g. grass clippings
- Household rubbish e.g. food
- Hazardous waste e.g. oil, chemicals, gas bottles
- Scrap from renovations or refits
- Firewood
- Items that cannot be lifted by 2 people
- Items that will not fit in our truck
- Anything deemed to be a health hazard
- Items that have not been left in the agreed place
Conditions are:
- Free collections are available to Porirua city residents only
- We pickup your items, even if it is raining
- All items should be stacked tidily and easily visible near the letterbox. Do not leave items on the public berm.
- Items such as bric-a-brac, plates, toys, paints, books, small tools etc should be boxed and easy to carry
- Clothing and linen should be put into shopping or clear bags (do not use rubbish bags as these may be mistaken for rubbish)
- Please ensure whiteware is empty
- Have your items out by 8.30 am on the day of your pick up
- Items left inside your house, garage, back yard, under decks etc, will not be collected
- Please label carefully any items that are not to be collected
If items are not collected by 4:30pm, a note will be left in your letterbox explaining why.
